If you are ever planning to move to Houston or just thinking of visiting, look you probably wonder how is the fashion scene and what is the style culture like for us Houstonians. Houston, hospital the fourth largest city in the United States with 2.1 million population, see does not quite measure up yet to the fashion scene of other bigger cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. That does not mean to say, however, that we do not know how to have fashionable fun! We constantly have fashion happenings going on and here are just some of the fashionable fun things you can do!
1. Shop & Dine at The Galleria
The Houston Galleria is the fourth largest mall in the nation. Boasting with the finest architecture, 2.4 million square feet of retail space, over 300 fine stores and designer name brands such as Tory Burch, Fendi, Salvatorre Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel to name a few, this upscale mall gets over 24 million annual visitors. This has truly become one of the tourist destinations in town. Done shopping and dining? Try ice skating! It is open to kids and adults alike. Twice a year, during spring and fall, this ice rink gets turned into an amazing runway of styles during Simon Fashion Now™, which we just had last September 6 and you can read more about it here. Simon Fashion Now™ is a huge scale fashion event presented by Cadillac that showcases styles from both luxury and affordable brands. What makes this show totally unique is that unlike other fashion shows, the styles that you see on the runway are immediately available at the stores. You don't have to wait for months before they are made available to the consumers.

2. Cash For Fashion at the Buffalo Exchange
Can you really turn in your old, semi-used, or unwanted clothes for cash? Absolutely! Buffalo Exchange is a store along Westheimer Rd. and Rice Village here in Houston that sells name brands for less and vintage clothing items. Any item that locals sell them gets recycled and sold at the store as well. As the saying goes," Another man's trash may be another man's treasure." They are not entirely unique in Houston since they have few other locations in other cities and states. However, if there isn't one in your area, this is a great place to check out! Who knows, you may just find that designer handbag or shoes you're looking for so much less or cash in on the unwanted items in your closet.

3. Enjoy an Authentic Texas Fashion & Culture at the Rodeo
The Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show only comes February of each year and stays for about three weeks. It is an event that showcases livestock, rodeo, country music, food, and that authentic Texas cowboy and cowgirl fashion we only get to see normally around this time of the year. It is when cowboy boots, hats, jeans, and plaid shirts are the regular street fashion here in town!
4. Shoot Your Stylish Outfits at Hermann Park
You're probably wondering why I have included a park as one of the fashionable fun things to do here in Houston. Well, a lot of people have asked me where I go to take photos of my outfits that I post here on my blog. There are several locations that we go to but Hermann Park is the one we frequent. It is centrally located and it has plenty of spots that has great lighting and a perfect backdrop for that great fashionista pictures to share with your friends and family!
5. Harwin Drive Shopping
Some said this is Houston's Best Kept Secret in Bargain Shopping. I have been there several times so it's not a secret to me at all. In fact, some of the jewelries I have worn with my outfits were from here. I truly think it is the fashion mecca for budget fashionistas. It is basically a long strip of warehouse-looking stores and most of them are usually accessories and costume jewelries, although there are some clothing ones as well which I have never really tried. There are occasions where you can find in Harwin Drive the same exact pieces you will find at expensive boutiques in town. In fact, I have heard from one of the store owners that some of those boutiques come there to buy some of the inventories, mark it up, and pass on to their shoppers.
