With so many things pulling on us on different directions on a daily basis, are there ways to relieve yourself of stress and is there really a time to do that? The truth of the matter is that you can’t afford not to relieve yourself of stress!
What’s your typical day like? What about week? Month? I wouldn’t be surprised if you are someone who wears a lot of hats and you have a lot on your plate on any given day. As a society, we were programmed that multi-tasking, having too many things on our plate, and hustling is a good thing.
But nothing can be further from the truth. All of these can just lead to stress which is the number one cause of disease, based on scientific studies. So you can’t afford not to have time to relieve yourself of stress. Our body and our mind can only handle so much. If you push it to its capacity, eventually you will have a breakdown resulting in illnesses in different forms.
That being said, what are the ways you can relieve yourself of stress?
-
Do Exercise
Exercise seems to be counterintuitive to relieving yourself of stress because it seems to be putting stress on your body. However, studies have shown that when you exercise, your body releases what’s called the “happy hormone” or oxytocin. This hormone is known to be the chemical responsible in your happy moods. So while your body may seem physically tired during or after an exercise, it balances the physical tiredness internally with that hormone. You will be in a better mood and much more relaxed afterwards. It also doesn’t have to be a long and rigorous exercise. Sometimes, just a mere walking outside, getting some sunshine and enjoying the sceneries can make a whole lot of difference.

Get a Massage
Nothing can relieve stress than a great deep tissue massage! When we’re stressing out, a lot of times, we tense up our body without realizing it. Once the stressful event is over, we feel all sorts of pain in our body. Toxins excreted due to stress can form knots usually in our backs, necks and shoulders and these can only be released through a good deep tissue massage.Recently, I felt an extreme tightness and pain in my back so my husband and I went to Massage Heights in Pearland. It’s our preferred place and location to get a massage and if you live in the area, I highly recommend that you try them out. Their therapists are professionals and the location itself has great reviews from customers.
My husband and I both opted for a 90-minute deep tissue massage infused with CBD.
And boy oh boy…that was the most relaxing 90 minute of my life this year! I didn’t know how badly stressed I was until I felt all sorts of tightness on my back and I could hardly move. After the 90-minute CBD-infused massage, my back felt so much better and just my body’s overall condition is better than it was when I walked in.
Apparently, I had a lot of inflammation on my back and CBD helps a lot with that. The CBD oil that they infuse in the massage lotion is non-addictive at all. It has just the right amount to help with pain and inflammation.
If it’s been awhile since you have gotten a massage, I suggest that you get one ASAP. If there’s a Massage Heights location near you, I recommend that you check them out if you haven’t yet.
You might also want to try the CBD-infused massage, especially if your back is hurting or you have some kind of pain in your extremities.

Get Enough Sleep
Sleeping is no doubt one of the ways you can relieve yourself of stress. It’s when we’re sleeping that our body metabolizes and resets. It’s when no physical activities or conscious brain function interferes with the body that it does what it needs to do!When we lack sleep every day, we get easily tired and stressed. So the way you can reverse and relieve yourself of stress is to get enough sleep.
Go to bed early, put your mobile device away, relax your mind until you fall asleep. If I have a hard time falling asleep, I normally put on my earphones and put on some night time meditation music. There are a lot of these meditation music on YouTube that causes your brain to get to a certain mode, relaxes it until you fall deep into sleep. Taking melatonin also helps in getting a good night sleep. (Be sure to check with your doctor first.)

Pray and Let Go
I don’t mean to sound religious here but often times praying seems to be our last resort when it should be our only resort. A lot of times we try to control things and worry about things we can’t control.I know this because for a fact because I’m like this. But when I got to the point where I have no control anymore, that’s when I realize I’m only human and there is a God who has power that can fix the things I can’t and praying is the way I can communicate to Him.
Praying is actually my means of letting my worries go and handing it to a Higher Power who can work things out for me better than I could.
In conclusion, there are probably more ways than 4 that you can do to relieve yourself of stress. Some people relieve their stress by eating comfort food, watching TV, chatting with friends – and these are all OKAY when balanced. My suggestion is to find your balance and to find your bliss.
What makes you happy? What gives you peace of mind? What relaxes your body?
For me, sometimes, driving and going on a road trip, even if it’s just a day trip, helps get my mind off some things that cause me to stress. Sometimes, it’s also just getting away from the computer, sitting on the carpet, and relaxing my back on my cushiony chair.
Do whatever good it takes to relieve your stress. Your body, your mind, and your soul will thank you.
