Do you, ladies and gentlemen, have any stubborn fat that no matter how much workout you do, it just won’t go away? I know I personally do. My problem area has always been my lower abs and no matter how much lower abs workout I do, I just couldn’t make it to go away. I honestly, I gave up on it. For years, since I was young, I’ve had it. My mom said it’s because I had a bad posture when I was growing up and I was always slouching. It could be. But I wanted it to go away. After awhile, I stopped trying. Until I learned about cryolipolysis.
What is cryolipolysis?
According to wikipedia, it is a non-invasive (non-surgical) body contouring treatment used to reduce fat cell volume by freezing. Basically, it involves a machine that suctions the area that you want to get rid of fat from and freezes those fat. Your body then excretes the dead fat through your lymphatic system which is usually through sweating and urine excretion. Be sure to watch the video below.
My husband has been researching about cryolipolysis for awhile now and has been playing with the idea of doing it but not sure where we can find a place that we can totally be comfortable with. There are a few places in Houston and Pearland that offer the procedure but we were hoping to find a place that comes highly recommended by a friend or has good reviews. That’s where Laser Girl Skin Care and Med Spa in Bellaire/Houston came in.
Although we don’t know them personally before coming in, I’ve read their reviews and was really impressed by the numerous 5 star reviews and recommendations by their clients. I totally felt comfortable, got excited, and told my husband about it.
So we went for it…
Below are our before photos prior to taking the procedure…(sssshhhh no body shaming/judging!)
I’ve had this lower ab pouch for awhile and just knowing the right undergarment and the right clothes to wear makes it quite invisible from my photos. Ha!
Below is my husband’s before photos. As a previous collegiate football player at Texas A&M, he is normally athletically built but men tend to go bigger in the tummy area when they let go so this was something that he’s been wanting to work on.
We decided to do the cryolipolysis to get back on our fitness journey again. See, when we got married, we had some adjustments to make, especially in our housing situation, so working out was put in the back burner. But we’re determined to get back in shape again and cryolipolysis was our first step.
Here are some frequently asked questions about the procedure:
Is cryolipolysis safe?
Many people ask if cryolipolysis is safe. That was our first and important question too. As in any procedure, that should always be the priority. To answer the question, the procedure is non-invasive/non-surgical and is safe. We were literally up after the 50 minute procedure and drove back home ourselves. We didn’t need to have any designated driver with us.
Are there any side effects?
The side effect is you losing the stubborn fat in your body. Wooohoo! My husband and I didn’t have any significant side effects. Although I must say that after the procedure, the area that you had cryolipolysis done can feel numb for as long as two weeks. Mine also felt itchy and tender at times but it wasn’t anything that was completely uncomfortable that you had to be down for it for several days.
Does the procedure hurt?
The procedure didn’t hurt for me per se. But there was a peak moment when the machine suctioned my tummy quite a bit hard that it felt a bit more uncomfortable than usual. After a few minutes, your body adjusts to it and everything was fine again.
Are you going to lose weight after cryolipolisys?
I would like to think of cryolipolysis as more for like toning rather than weight loss. Because the procedure will reduce the fats in your problem areas, you will lose inches rather than pounds, if that makes sense. However, I don’t find it impossible if your weight does change for the better after doing the procedure in several different problem areas.
When do you see the result?
My husband and I are on our third week post-procedure. We were informed that it can take up to 90 days to see significant results. It’s a slow process but I’d rather do slow process and make sure that my body is not getting shocked rather than a dramatic result and my body goes into trauma or something. Some clients, however, according to Laser Girl Skin Care and Med Spa, have seen results in as little as 2 weeks. I feel and see a little bit of a change in my problem area. I’m not worried though because I know it’s working. My husband has seen some results in as little as two weeks as well. I will definitely write another post to give you guys an update on the results.
How many sessions do I need?
Unfortunately, this is not something I can answer. I was told that I may need 2 sessions. It will all depend on your problem area.
Do you recommend a place I can get cryolipolysis done?
YES, YES, YES! If you are in Houston, I highly recommend Laser Girl Skin Care and Med Spa. I’ve been to some med spas before for other skin care treatments but I absolutely love this place. It feels home and cozy, and Alyssa Abramson, the owner, is very welcoming. She personally did my husband and mine’s cryolipolysis procedure. Alyssa is sweet and you will feel that she totally cares about her patients. She makes sure you are as comfortable as you can be during the process and gives you a heads-up every step of the way. She is also very knowledgeable and skilled about different procedures – so whether you have skin care problems that you want to be addressed or just want laser hair removal, Laser Girl Skin Care and Med Spa is the place to go.
