Here’s a confession: Working from home and often by myself 9-10 hours every day, I really don’t have the motivation to eat a full meal for lunch.
Often times, I would eat a big breakfast and just eat snacks throughout the day while working in front of my computer. I really only get to eat a decent meal when my husband comes home.
Normally, I’d end up snacking on sweets and junk food which we all know is not the best and not the healthiest. I’d do whatever, BUT eat a full healthy meal, just to fill my tummy.
My husband obviously isn’t too happy about it so I had to research on some healthy snacks and found that almonds are one of the healthiest snacks I could eat! Not to mention that it doesn’t require cooking or preparation. All I have to do is just grab some and go.
I know that almonds are good for me but I didn’t know that it’s THAT good for our health overall. And it doesn’t taste bad either. Hello, almonds are delish!
Chances are, I don’t need to convince you why you must have almonds as part of your daily diet but just in case I do, here are 5 health benefits of an almond serving:
- Almonds are an excellent source of antioxidant, vitamin E, and magnesium.
- It provides 6 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber.
- It is a good source of calcium, potassium, and phosphorus.
- It has 13 grams of “good” unsaturated fat.
- Almonds are naturally gluten-free and cholesterol free.
I know it may seem like that’s a lot of information but if you have one take-away from all of those things mentioned above, just know that almonds are healthy and you can’t go wrong having it as a snack.
I’ve started snacking on some California Almonds, which are whole natural almonds by the way, and I noticed that I had less cravings for sweets than I normally used to.
And being the random person that I am sometimes, I go out in an odd time of the day to run errands and often end up getting hungry while out and about. Being that I can fit almonds in a small perfect portion in, I can also fit it in my pocket or my purse and take it with me wherever I go.
I love the convenience that almonds can offer my lifestyle. Not only that it’s healthy but it’s also perfect for my on-the-go schedule.
What’s your go-to snack?
