Putting together the look of my Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids was a little more challenging than I originally thought. I have envisioned a mismatched look for them – different styles with sequins and in our wedding colors. I had 8 girls, including my Maid of Honor, as you can see.
I gave the girls a vision of what I was looking for as far as styles and colors and they each went on their way to find a dress they liked. It definitely wasn't easy since they have different tastes, styles, and body type. As they find something that they liked, they checked with me to see if that will work. For some girls, it worked out right away and for others, we went through a few before it was finalized.
My vision was for some of them to wear full sequined dresses and some of them a combination of a sequins and a different material and in specific colors. I think that's where the challenge came in. Some dresses don't come in their sizes and some aren't available in the colors I would like for them to wear.
What I do think helped somewhat was that they were shopping for their dresses around the holidays so there's quite a few sequined ones. In the end, they all made their choices and it all worked out! My girls looked gorgeous individually and collectively. I couldn't be happier with how their looks turned out!
If you're looking for some wedding party dresses, your first go-to place should be Rent The Runway. Four of my girls rented their sequined dresses from them and they all looked great! If you're not sure about your size, you can order a size down or size up dress, in addition to your regular size, and there's no additional charge for it. The dress(es) gets delivered a couple of days before the event and it comes with a return packaging kit which makes it easy for you to send it back immediately after the occasion.
Some of the girls got theirs from ASOS, Lulu's, and Amazon.
Below were some of the links for the dresses:
Maid of Honor Dress: Badgley Mischka Halter Gown from Rent The Runway
Rose Gold Sequin Bridesmaid Dress: Badgley Mischka Blush Constellation Gown from Rent The Runway
Gold Sequin Bridesmaid Dress: Badgley Mischka Gold Glitz Gown from Rent The Runway (Worn by my pregnant friend)
Blush Sequin Bridesmaid Dress: Badgley Mischka Blush Maria Gown from Rent The Runway
The dress that one of my bridesmaids got from ASOS was sold out but here's a similar one.
The dainty bouquets were from Kroger Floral Department. I did mention before that I opted to go with them and I'm REALLY glad I did. They did such a wonderful job with everything floral at our wedding! The bridesmaids bouquets were simple but lovely. I loved how there's just a hint of blush in each one of them since their dresses already have a lot of going on. More on the floral aspects on another post.
I must also mention that in putting together the Bridesmaid looks, I decided for them not to wear the same shoes. Being a bridesmaid is not cheap. Let's just face that fact. So when putting together the look for your bridesmaids, consider the cost of their dresses, shoes, and everything else that you would require of them. Be easy on them and their pockets.
Since they were wearing long dresses, I didn't think that wearing the same style shoes was necessary. I also gifted each one of their with a jewelry set from Charming Charlie which was my "proposal" gift for them. In case you missed the deets on that one, click here.
