Here's another truth I'm about to spill here on my blog (as if I haven't spilled a ton yet). Although majority of my work involves the world wide web, I am just not a huge online shopper. I hardly buy my own stuff online, unless it's something I can't find elsewhere or at a local store. So, just a day before Thanksgiving Day, I was crazy enough to squeeze in a little shopping day at Macy's, despite my hectic schedule. That was a few days before I left for my vacation. Hey, a girl can always use a little retail therapy right?
I went to the Macy's Houston Galleria which has about 3 floors of shopping pleasure! My first stop? Make a good guess. Oh wow, how could you think that I had to stop at the shoe department first?
The Michael Kors shelf had me at…well the name brand screaming at me, calling my name. That pretty little shelf I couldn't stay away from. If you're following me on Twitter @heyitslynneg, you probably have seen my tweet showing 3 pairs of shoes. I ended up bringing home 2 pairs of them – one for myself and one for my mom.
Oh by the way, on my shopping day, I took over @MacysTourism Twitter account for a day while I'm shopping. It was so much fun being able to have a different audience that day. And in case you're not following them, I suggest doing so. Here are some of my tweets that you might have missed: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Here's one of the two Michael Kors shoes that I ended up getting. I couldn't resist the gems in these sandals and the sale price at that time! Macy's really know how to do SALE the right way! They're legit! If you're a regular shopper at Macy's, then you definitely know what I'm talking about. By "sale", they mean anywhere from 25% all the way to BUY ONE GET ONE FREE! And I'm not kidding you. I was actually able to score a BOGO sweater deal for my brother and boyfriend. I felt like a winner that day. Ha.
To continue my own little shopping festivity, I stopped by the women's apparel. But of course! I mean, why not, right? Since I've been getting a little "drawn" to white and gold lately, this INC display caught my attention. I loved the whole gold, beige/ivory, and black theme they have going on for their INC 30 Years Holiday Collection.
One of my favorites from the INC Holiday collection was this "Fairytales Do Come True" pullover sweater. Originally, the price was $79.50 but currently on sale for $54.99 and if you use code MERRY on checkout online, you get 20% OFF. I told you, Macy's know how to do SALE the right way!
Although I really love this sweater, I wasn't necessarily looking at it for me. At this point, I was already shopping gifts for my loved ones. I ended up getting my sis-in-law a long sweater cardigan, also from INC, similar to this, which I ended up paying about $27 before taxes. Another win! This sweater though will make such a great gift for your sister or bestie.
Another wonderful gift idea I saw was these couple mugs – red lips and mustache. Aren't these so cute?
While shopping around, I tend to look at mannequin styles and here are just a couple that quite fancied me from amongst many at the store – the denim, the plaid, the vests…ahhhh!
And this girl, although not a huge make-up fan, just had to stop at two beauty counters at Macy's. Seriously…what's not to check out and love about the Chanel and Dior counters? I find it useful to stop at these beauty counters every now and then because their specialists can help you find the right make-up for you. Not to mention, they can give you a make-over right there and then! I'm sure you ladies have done this more than once in your lifetime. I know I have. *Wink*
As much as I would like to think that holiday shopping is all about women, I have a pretty amazing boyfriend I gotta shop a gift for so after checking out the women's department, I headed downstairs to the men's department. This Calvin Klein station caught my attention, it's pretty sleek eh? But I went for a more casual gift and got the BOGO sweater deal, as I mentioned earlier, for my boyfriend and brother. So I got 4 sweaters for the price of 2 and I think I ended up only paying about $60 something for all 4!
If they have the sleek style for men, they also have the rugged/casual style. I really liked how they styled these three mannequins right here.
Finally, to end my day, I just had to stop at this Letter to Santa station. I wrote Santa and asked him for another $1,000 to go shopping at Macy's for their after-Christmas sale. *Wink* Just kidding.
I am not yet done with my Christmas shopping so I'm definitely going back to the store to shop for more. Be sure to also check out www.macys.com. You get free shipping for $25 or more.
Better yet, check out your local Macy's for the best deals on gifts for him and her.
