In just a few days, we will all officially say "goodbye" to summer. Sigh. I am already dreading the cold weather. My body is always tensed and stiff during cold season and I just hated it. This tropical girl can tolerate a 90 degree weather anytime versus a 50 degree. I get cold in my house at 79 degrees for goodness' sake. So you can imagine why I absolutely dread the cold season.
So with the change of season, comes the change in temperatures, as well as a few things in our closet and daily rituals, to adopt to the weather – from skin care to wardrobe, here are my 5 "must have" suggestions for you.
1. Good Facial Skin Care Products
No matter what season, we all need to take care of our skin. Not only does it prevent it from aging prematurely, but it also helps in keeping it healthy-looking. While there are some products that are available at your local pharmacies and affordable prices, a lot of times, paying a little higher on skin care products prove to yield better results.
I must admit that although my skin is not sensitive, it usually doesn't like to stick to a particular skin care product for a long time. However, there are a few that I could tell that it realy liked while it lasted and that's TULA. Their products do not contain phthalates, parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, propylene glycol, gluten, or sulfates. It's also cruelty-free. What makes their products effective are probiotics, which are "good bacteria" and have been proven to have skin health benefits.
The following are the ones I got to try and recommend:
b. TULA Hydrating Day & Night Cream
2. Good Body Skin Care Products
Cold weather can be especially brutal to our skin. While fall isn't necessarily the coldest yet, it's a great time to getting your whole body skin prepped for it as well. After all, you don't want chapped or ashy skin! (Yuck, right?)
One brand of skin care products I also got to try recently was BV Spa. They are a line of home spa products from Canada that recently made their way on the shelves of H-E-B, a Texas-based grocery chain. They have body butter, body lotion, and salt scrub. I got to try them all and I've been using the product ever since. Their ingredients are all-natural and the products are oil-based, thus it is easily absorbed by the skin and stays longer, keeping it deeply moisturized.
They come in 3 different flavors Pomegranate, Grapefruit and Lavander and my absolute favorite is the lavander. It's so soothing and relaxing.
BV Spa prides themselves for being a luxury home spa without the luxury price tag! They are available at H-E-B for $9.99! Most spa products cost over $20-$30 r more.
By daily using their body butter on my body, my skin is softer and I feel incomplete if I don't ever get to put it on even for just a day. I also got to try their salt scrub. The result is definitely instant and I honestly felt like I need to insure my feet for a million bucks because they just turned out to be so smooth and pretty after the salt scrub treatment.
3. Dependable and Gentle Puff Lotion Tissues
Here is one that you absolutey can't do without: Puffs Lotion Plus! I know many people love the cold weather but hate the sneezes, the cough and cold, and the allergy that can come with it. I don't know about you but I absolutely dislike going around town or even at home, with cold. If you've ever been there, you know the feeling!
And the worse feeling is when you're scrambling for a tissue paper from your glove compartment, hoping to find that piece of napkin you got from the restaurant you had dinner the night before, only to realize you had already used it earlier.
What an even worst feeling or rather embarassing is when you realize that you look like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer after wiping your nose with that rough napkin, right? Save the costume for your Ugly Christmas Sweater party at work! Puffs Lotion Plus is infused with shea butter, aloe and vitamin E, which makes it more gentle to your nose during cold season.
It's available at Sam's Club in 10 packs for only $13.48! I would suggest putting a couple in your car and at work, and a few around your house where it's easily accessible.
They come in really pretty floral boxes so they can be decorative too. I got one by my Sprout Computer. And I am already thinking of bringing some at my wedding in January for my guests. I'm pretty sure that once I start crying, there will be some waterworks from the guests that will follow! So I'm making Puffs Lotion Plus handy! Besides, I'm getting married in winter and we will have an outdoor ceremony. I will do them a favor with the Puffs Lotion Plus by saving them from the Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer look at my wedding. Ha!

4. Good Cozies/Warmers
Cozies and warmers go without saying that they are a must…but I have included them here nevertheless. It's important to get good cozies and warmers that get the job done! RELLA has some really nice and heavy-duty beanies and gloves that will be sure to keep you warm. I can't wait to style these babies and show you guys how you can wear them.
Another one that proved to be useful during cold season is blanket scarves. They are stylish and they really do keep you warm. They have been my life savers for the past few cold seasons. Amazon.com has really great but inexpensive blanket scarves and I recently got this warm and cozy one from Spring Fever.
It doesn't hurt to have 3-5 of them in your closet, especially if you live in a colder state. You will find that having more than one of these blanket scarves during winter is useful.
5. Comfortable Boots and Booties
It's easy to get carried away in fall fashion. When you see a gorgeous leopard coat that a mannequin wears at Nordstrom, your fashionista mind probably immediately jumps on styling that with a pair of stiletto-heeled over the knee boots that you imagine will dramatically surprise everyone at work when you remove your coat.
When it comes to boots and booties, I'd like to go for comfort. Having 5 layers of clothing plus a high-heel over the knee boots can be overbearing. Trust me, I know because I've done it before and I learned my lesson! When it comes to boots and booties, go for comfort, and then style. Fortunately, you can have both! For boots, I normally go for flat ones and for booties, I go for low-heeled ones. I have share some of my favorites below that you might also fancy.
