The dry and cold days are upon us and usually, the first two things that get the impact is our health and our skin. Can we say, “yikes!”?
Last season, about the same time, I was attacked with eczema, which I thought at first was some kind of skin allergy. So I went to see an allergy specialist and came to find out it’s just eczema and it’s all because I really didn’t take care of my skin. Well, I thought I did. But apparently, my routine wasn’t enough. I work from home and had the heater on all day while working so it’s dried up my skin badly and my usual body lotion didn’t cut it.
On top of it, because I self-diagnosed myself at first, I was putting the wrong moisturizer. Basically, the eczema just started as a very dry skin and it escalated real quick. It was a nightmare because my skin looked like fish scales (eeew!). It was terribly itchy and became spotty when the eczema finally went away. Thankfully, it’s just in my arms and it eventually healed by itself.
This season, I’m taking better care of my skin and this is how:
1. Use the right and effective moisturizing products.
There are so many out there but which ones actually work and how do you know it works?
First of all, I can’t pretend to know every thing about ingredients that work and don’t work.
However, one thing I know for sure, when it comes to skin care, you can’t go wrong with natural and coconut oil! I’ve been using coconut oil for all things beauty, since I can remember. When it comes to skin care products, I know that a coconut oil-based product works wonders so I’m opting for Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula products this time.
Here are some I highly recommend:
a. Palmer’s Coconut Oil Body Lotion – Great for moisturizing your body overall.
b. Palmer’s Coconut Oil Body Oil – This is great for immediate application after you shower. It seals in the moisture real quick and allows a fully-hydrated skin all day. You can use this in combination with the Palmer’s Coconut Oil Body Lotion.
c. Palmer’s Hand Cream – I wash my hands a lot so I constantly use a hand cream and Palmer’s Hand Cream is now my go-to after trying it!
d. Palmer’s Swivel Stick Lip Moisturizer – Avoid windburn and chapped lips with this amazing moisturizer.
2. Drink plenty of water
This is a no-brainer. But for someone like me, I need to be constantly reminded to drink lots of water so I can keep hydrated overall. Our body is composed of 60% water and the largest organ in our body is skin. It uses a LOT of water. If we drink plenty of water, we don’t only keep our skin hydrated externally but it’s moisture is coming naturally from the source inside, if that makes sense. If your skin is fully hydrated internally, it’s tougher for dryness to kick in.
3. Get enough sleep.
During sleep is when the cells in our body regenerate and recover. Surprisingly yet scientifically proven, a lot of things happy in our body when we sleep. So when we don’t sleep enough, we are cutting ourselves short of what our body can naturally do for us, which includes skin regeneration.
4. Get some downtime or relaxation.
Stress can have so much impact in our skin and health and wellness overall. That’s why we get breakouts. Our body is trying to fight toxins caused by stress and as a result, we get different kinds of breakouts, including dryness. This doesn’t necessarily have to be sleep. A downtime can be a 5-10 minute breaks from your day to day routine. Try to go in your car or your office lounge to just calm your mind and help your body release good chemicals. If you’re constantly going and going, the first evidence that your body is fighting the stress is usually in your skin.
Hope you will keep these 4 things in mind as we go into a dry and cold season!

There’s another brand that has been advertising their “in shower moisturizing lotion”. I’ve used it and am not a big fan because then it directs you to pat yourself dry. Not the easiest thing to do without still feeling wet when you are done!

Wow! That’s weird! I would totally hate that feeling!

Thanks for the chance.?? Followed in IG. Thanks for the reminder that this is the most important time to keep our skin hydrated. I live in a higher altitude area and it gets really dry and my skin shows it if I do not take good care of moisturizing it daily. It really pays to use a moisturizer that works.

Lot of great information information here. hydration – sleep – and for me humidifier is a must
I have been using Palmer’s products for years but just discovered the coconut oil products. Picked some up for my 88 yr old mother and she informed me that I better pick her up more the next time I was out. My mother has very very dry sky and this just goes right into her skin … she love it. I also love it but my skin is not that dry.
