4 Important Tips to Get The Best Out of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 #NSale2018

If you’re a regular on Instagram and follow some or a LOT of fashionistas, I’m almost 100 percent sure that you’ve already heard about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in the past years and this year. This year, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale will open to the public from July 20 – August 5 and prices will immediately go back up on August 6.

Now if you’ve been following my blog for awhile now, you know that I’m not the one to post a lot about sales here. But I must reveal that I recently got me a Nordstrom charge card (Eeeek! Shhhh, my husband doesn’t know!) so this year, I decided to participate in all the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shenanigans!

Why is it a big deal? The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is Nordstrom’s biggest sale of the year when literally hundreds or even thousands of items go on sale. Whether you’re a regular shopper at Nordstrom or not, you REALLY don’t want to miss this. If you haven’t shopped at Nordstrom, this is a great way to try them out. I love their customer service and lots and lots of items to buy.

This anniversary sale can get very crazy. Items can sell out very fast  and finding things that you want and need can get frustrating. Imagine going through pages and pages of items on sale. You can spend all day doing so!

So here are some tips to make the best out of this sale: 

1. The card’s the key.
   I have lines of credit but I don’t have credit cards. My husband and I use our debit cards a LOT. It’s just a lifestyle that both him and I do even before getting married. However, having been shopping a lot at Nordstrom lately, I didn’t want to miss the rewards that their charge card offers. It’s pretty lavish actually. When you apply for it, you get $40 when you shop on the same day you’re approved. and you also earn 2 points per dollar when you use it t to shop at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Haute Look and Trunk Club. So far I’ve had $60 worth of Nordstrom notes which I used to buy a pair of Steve Madden slides. It’s $69.95. However, with my rewards, I only paid $9.95 for it. How awesome is that? And having a Nordstrom card gives you an early access  to the sale. You can get first dibs on clothing items that you want in the sizes that you need, shoes, accessories, etc before others.
2. Remember the important dates.
   If you don’t have the Nordstrom charge card or Nordstrom visa card and don’t feel like applying for one. No worries, no pressure. Just keep the important anniversary sale dates below so you can set your alarm on when to go online or to the store to shop. The sale opens to the public on July 20th.
3. Preview the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 catalog.
   If you have no idea what’s going on sale or don’t know what to get, trust me, it will get very overwhelming AND frustrating. I know there are women out there who love to shop. But I am one of those who has to know what she wants, go in the store (or online), and then out! I want to go in, get what I want, then out. But with hundreds of items on sale, I’d rather see ahead of time so thankfully, Nordstrom has a preview and you can view it here.

   

4. Plan your shopping ahead of time.
   Sales can get us to overspend. While a huge sale like this is great, you’d still want to be within your budget. You can’t live outside your means. That being said, plan your shopping ahead of time. Do an inventory of what you need and “want”. Keep your “want” practical. Look at the items that you’ve been eyeing for a loooooooong time and see if it’s going on sale. If it’s going on sale, then this is the best time to get it.What’s also great about this sale is that they don’t only put old items on sale but new and upcoming items as well. This is a great time to shop for your fall and winter needs. If you need new sweaters, coats, boots, and booties, plan to shop for them.
