About a few days ago, I wrote my first Design Spotting post that revolves around home decor. My love for home decor is a side of me that I have not explored in such a long time so being able to instagram some home decor items was so much fun. This time, I'm going to let you in a little bit on what goes on my mind when I design-spot for myself.
Personal styling involves a lot of detailed elements, in my opinion. Especially for us women. We have to have the right style, the right fit…we think about textures, patterns, colors, type of materials, and other things that men are not in particular about when it comes to fashion. I could literally spend a couple of hours in one store looking for one or two dresses I have pictured in my mind and walk out empty-handed. I kid you not! Honestly, even I get exhausted with how I am when shopping! And that does not only happen when I'm shopping at a physical store, it happens when I'm shopping online too! But a girl has got to do what she's got to do to look and feel the best that she can be.
Women's fashion can be a little complicated sometimes BUT that's what makes us women! If we are not detailed and complicated, we won't be women, don't you think? Anyway, back to design spotting for my personal style and what I look for when I shop. Many of you already know my love for colors. I think more than anything, colors really do make an impact on me when I am trying to find a certain design. Colors inspire me. I usually have a craving for a particular color first and then find the other elements I am looking for in that color. For example, just recently, I had a serious craze over cobalt blue or electric blue so I went on choosing cobalt blue items in jackets, handbags, and dresses from my monthly blog partners. I hardly ever think about textures but I do consider them sometimes. Now, I'm craving red items so you will most likely see me in red dress, skirt, and/or jacket in the next few weeks. Trends are also huge for me. I guess you can say that elements such as colors, styles, textures, patterns, and prints come in trends.
So here are some of what goes in my mind when I'm styling:
1. Is this dress style (or jacket, skirt, blouse) ME?
2. Do I like this color?
3. Is it on trend?
4. What color and what kind of accessories go with it?
5. Do I stay solid color or match with some prints?
6. Will I be comfortable wearing it?
I know it may seem like there's a lot going on in my mind but hey like I said…I won't be a woman if I don't shop this way!
Here are some design trends for fall that I saw at Dillard's today…
Instapic #1: Sequin Dress from As U Wish Clothing. Sequins are so in this social season. Did you notice that it's also in cobalt/electric blue?
Instapic #2: Vince Camuto Booties. Can't go without booties this fall and studs are not only a fall trend in clothing but also in shoes. These shoes are to die for!
Instapic #3: Of course, Michael Kors handbags are in anytime! I just love this particular style.
Instapic #4: Jackets are huge these days and this one, also from Dillard's (Forgive me because I forgot the designer), is special because of the leather lining on the collar.
Instapic #5: Michael Kors boots…Need I say more? *Wink*
