If there is one thing I can’t live without these days, it would be my phone. I’m sure that many of you can relate. I normally freak out if I am out and about and my phone dies. Unfortunately, it dies frequently on me because I use it too much. My friends got tired of my phone dying so much that one of them gave me a portable charger as a gift! I love my friends, ha!
As a fashion blogger, I use my phone for a lot of things to help me get about my day to day schedule:
1. Weather Forecast – It’s important for me to check the weather everyday so I know what to wear and I know what the forecast is on the days I have scheduled a photoshoot. With the weather in Houston being erratic all year round, I have made it a habit to check what the day is going to be like, temperature-wise, as well as what the wind and humidity factor are going to be.
2. Email – I work from home so I am normally in front of my laptop a lot. However, when I am out and about, I don’t want to miss any important email that might require immediate response.
3. Calendar – I used to be more of a hard-copy calendar/planner person but once I have learned to use the calendar on my phone, I pretty much use it for any events and appointments I may have.
4. Alarm Clock – I hate being late to anything. That’s just my personality. I’d rather be an hour early than be 5 minutes late. This also comes in handy for time-sensitive reminders.
5. Social Media – Because social media is just a regular part of our lives now.
6. GPS – Although I am pretty good in directions, I still need Google Maps and Siri every now and then, especially if I am not familiar with my destination.
7. Text Messaging – I am more of a text than a phone call person so this feature is overused.
8. Internet Surfing – While it is more comfortable to surf the internet when I’m on my laptop, I often find myself searching Google for anything and everything that comes to mind. For example, the past couple of days, I have things in mind about an upcoming project and while waiting in the car for my mom or at night when in bed and trying to put myself to sleep, I find myself surfing on my phone.
Most of my mobile activities require a ton of data usage. I have been with my current provider for the past 8 years or so I believe and thankfully, I signed-up with them when they still offered an unlimited data plan. However, even with the unlimited data plan and text messaging, it can still get very expensive – it hurts sometimes!
I have been toying with the idea of a pre-paid mobile phone to help me be more budget-savvy but I really haven’t tried because I heard that most of these prepaid phone networks have slow data and spotty network and they have lesser phone selections. Then comes this opportunity to try T-Mobile’s Simply Prepaid™.
Being that I am constantly holding my phone, I don’t like the thought of using an outdated phone model. It’s so not fashionable. However, T-Mobile’s Simply Prepaid™ is pretty appealing. First of all, I got the Samsung Galaxy Avant for $149. For that price, it’s got everything I need in a smart phone for my daily activities, including a camera – yes, you know, those #ootd and #selfie moments? Some prepaid phones don’t offer this type of phone. In fact, I have seen ones that still have the flip phone…ummm, no thanks.
Secondly, with Simply Prepaid™, I get 4G LTE data with unlimited talk and text on T-Mobile’s nationwide 4G LTE network, for just $40 per month! That is insane. My mom has 30 MB of data for $30/month on her phone. Simply Prepaid™ is definitely looking good to me right now.
And lastly, I don’t have to worry about overages and there is no annual service contract required. I also like the fact that there is no credit check and all the usual hoops you have to go through just to get connected. The process can be a pain sometimes!
Getting the Simply Prepaid™ was an easy process for me. I got mine at Walmart. It wasn’t readily available at that time so I went to their website and looked for the Samsung Galaxy Avant. There was the Site-to-Store option which you can select to have the phone delivered to a Walmart near you and you can just pick it up from there. The pick-up on mine got delayed a bit because of the snow storm in other areas, but other than that, it’s quick. I picked up my phone, put the SIM card, charged the battery, activated it and voila, I’m connected to the world wide web!
If you want to check out your local Walmart, go to the Electronics section and find the Prepaid aisle similar to the one below. Don’t settle for second-rate prepaid wireless, check out T-Mobile’s Simply Prepaid™ instead!
