A Pop of Turquoise

When putting together an outfit, what inspires you? Is it the color, the style, the accessory? For me, it’s a bit of everything. Sometimes, I would center the ensemble around a particular accessory but for the most part, it’s really the other way around – meaning, a lot of times, it’s either the top or the skirt or the dress that would inspire the rest of the outfit. In this case, it’s the pencil cut skirt. If it wasn’t for the leather trimmings on the sides and the studs, this pencil skirt would have looked just like any ordinary black pencil skirt but it’s a Charlotte Russe item that came out in fall so it inspired me to match it with other fall items, although technically speaking, we are in winter. The top is actually a burnt orange but I guess because of the lighting in the area, it became brighter and sharper, more like red. And like I said on my previous post, one of the ways to transition your outfit into the coming season is use accessories that have the next season’s color. I know I’m so ready for spring (I can’t stand this cold weather anymore!) so to transition and to give the ensemble a touch of spring and a pop of color, I used this turquoise studded bag. Burnt orange and turquoise always compliment each other. Don’t be afraid to play with colors. I used to have a friend back in Miami who would wear mostly grey. That’s not to say there’s something wrong with it if it’s her personal colors but if you’d like to put more life into your overall aura which includes your outfit, use a lot of beautifully put together colors in your outfits.
